[Seoul Wire, Reporter Yeom Bo-ra] Woori Card announced on the 4th that it had begun selling 'Card Basics WOWRI.'
This product was planned to mark the 'Card Basics' series surpassing 3 million accounts and its first anniversary of launch.
It was named 'WOWRI' by adding the words 'wow,' meaning astonishment at achieving 3 million accounts in the fastest time in the industry, and 'we' (uri).
The product's main benefits are the same as 'Card Basics POINT,' which offers benefits specialized for point accumulation. It accumulates 0.8% of spending at all merchants, and up to 5.0% of spending at special categories customers frequently use. Compared to the existing Card Basics POINT, it is characterized by strengthened accumulation benefits for duty-free purchases.
Registering the card with major simple payment services such as Naver Pay, Kakao Pay, Payco, and SSG Pay and paying with it also earns an additional 3% accumulation benefit. On top of this, customers can also earn each payment service's own points.
The company also emphasized that it put great effort into differentiating the design. Based on Korean painter Kim Hyun Jung's design, it makes use of basic geometric elements, colored with obangsaek, the traditional five cardinal colors, to allow a sense of varied hues. Through this, it expresses the harmony of yin-yang and the five elements, achieving a unique aesthetic entirely different from existing products.
Meanwhile, Woori Card achieved a record net income of 126.5 billion won last year on the back of the popularity of the 'Card Basics' series launched in April of last year. Notably, along with net income, the delinquent receivables ratio, an indicator showing the soundness of held credit card assets, fell for a second consecutive year, also earning positive evaluations in risk management.
