Haitai Confectionery (CEO Shin Jung-hoon) announced on the 7th that it is launching a "Yeon Yanggaeng Chuseok Gift Set" featuring traditional Korean beauty.
The Yeon Yanggaeng Chuseok Gift Set was born from an art collaboration with fusion Oriental painter Kim Hyun Jung. Based on the representative Oriental painting motif of the Ten Longevity Symbols (Sipjangsaengdo), the design realizes figures enjoying five sports and leisure activities—hiking, golf, soccer, fishing, and cycling—while eating Yeon Yanggaeng.
While the painting style is traditional Oriental painting, the figures form a modern contrast. They wear hanbok while playing golf and hiking, and wear a gat while cycling.
The Chuseok gift set consists of 16 original Yeon Yanggaeng bars and an ink-wash-style shopping bag. It is described as being priced reasonably to lower the burden of purchase. The fusion Oriental painting Yeon Yanggaeng seasonal edition gift set will be sold for the month of September, while the individual product will continue to be available in stores.
A Haitai Confectionery official said, "Noting that the customer base enjoying Yeon Yanggaeng is growing younger and the occasions for enjoying it are diversifying, we've infused Yeon Yanggaeng, widely loved as a healthy Chuseok snack, with a hip, youthful sensibility. As this is an art collaboration blending traditional dignity and contemporary wit, younger customers can enjoy a different kind of fun, while older generations can enjoy a more sophisticated feel."
