For two days starting the 21st, Seoul's Gwanghwamun Square in Jongno will overflow with a wave of hanbok in every color.
Jongno-gu announced on the 19th that it will hold the country's largest hanbok festival to promote the excellence and beauty of traditional hanbok.
Now in its third year, the Hanbok Festival is designed so visitors can experience everything about hanbok, including traditional performances, a parade, citizen experience programs, and a market.
At the North Plaza of Gwanghwamun Square, programs will include the Gangganggangsullae of Peace and Love, a Hanbok Concert with Geum Nan-sae, an Echo of Drums of Spirit and Harmony (Jindo Buk Dance), a Hanbok Showcase Contest, a Hanbok Fashion Show, and the Insadong Hanbok Parade. On the lawn plaza, there will be a folk street performance (street parade), street art performances (Tori, Gayarang), tightrope walking, a performance by painter Kim Hyun Jung (Hanbok Outing), a hanbok playground, a hanbok experience zone, a traditional market, and a food market.
The Gangganggangsullae of Peace and Love, held as the finale program at 9 p.m. on both days of the festival, is the highlight of the event.
In particular, this year's festival will also feature a hanbok experience corner where citizens who are not wearing hanbok can rent and wear it on-site.
