[Energy Economy Newspaper, reporter Bok Hyun-myung] Woori Card launched and began selling 'Card of Standards POINT' on the 2nd, offering enhanced point-accumulation benefits.
The card is the first in the 'Card of Standards' series, reflecting the mindset CEO Jeong Won-jae emphasized in his inaugural address in January — staying true to the fundamentals for customers through communication, and pursuing novelty without fear of change. In particular, from the product-planning stage, the card comprehensively reflects customer needs gathered across preferred categories and sales channels.
The card design is also an industry first, applying Korean painter Kim Hyun Jung's work 'Excess Is as Bad as Deficiency' to bring a Korean aesthetic.
This 'Card of Standards' series consists of two credit cards — Card of Standards POINT and Card of Standards POINT Main Transaction — and one check card, Card of Standards POINT CHECK.
The Card of Standards POINT credit card offers an industry-leading base rate of 0.8% of spending across all categories, with unlimited accumulation once the prior month's spending reaches 300,000 won. On top of that, in 10 special categories customers frequently use — mobile carriers, public transit, and EV charging at 5%; coffee and movies at 3%; and department stores, large discount stores, online shopping, fuel, and overseas purchases at 1% — up to 3% of spending is accumulated.
The Card of Standards POINT CHECK card accumulates up to 1.5% in the same categories as the credit card and 0.3% elsewhere, with an additional 1.5% available through simple-payment services. The annual fee is 10,000 won domestic-only and 12,000 won for combined domestic/international use; there is no check-card annual fee.
A Woori Card representative said, "By incorporating an artwork's design, we've given the financial product an emotional makeover, and we're also preparing 'artvertising'-style ads using more of the artist's playful works."
