Online, a series of works titled "Kim Hyun Jung's Naesoong Series" has recently been creating a stir. Using ink-wash coloring and collage techniques to satirize women, the works are gaining popularity on social media services (SNS) and elsewhere.
Artist Kim Hyun Jung is running a solo corner titled "Kim Hyun Jung's Naesoong Series" as part of Part 1 of "Kim Gwajang's Day at the Exhibition," held at Hangaram Art Museum from the 6th to the 13th.
Held in two parts, the exhibition brings together 136 emerging and mid-career artists active in Korea's art scene, showing and selling around 2,000 works.
All 13 of the artist's exhibited works reportedly sold out within just two days, reflecting their high popularity.
Netizens who saw the works responded with comments such as, "It's a fun satire of real-life doenjang-nyeo," "I saw it on Facebook... the artist is so pretty," and "It feels like looking at myself."
