[SPOTV News = Reporter Kim Hyun-rok] MBC Drama Awards' 'Golden Acting Award' category disappears after 13 years.

According to an MBC official on the 4th, at the 2019 MBC Drama Awards, which wraps up a year of MBC dramas and will be held on December 30, the 'Golden Acting Award' category will be abolished and a 'Scene Stealer Award' will be newly introduced.

Until now, MBC has awarded the 'Golden Acting Award' to actors who showed a strong presence in dramas regardless of their role's weight, across categories such as miniseries, weekend dramas, and daily dramas. The award's name was once changed to Best Supporting Actor Award, among others, but has continued under its current name since 2006 until last year. Last year, Heo Jun-ho of "Come and Hug Me" and Kang Boo-ja of "A Pledge to God" received the honor of the Golden Acting Award.

A 'Drama Awards' official explained, "Instead of the somewhat ambiguously named Golden Acting Award, we are introducing the 'Scene Stealer Award' to honor outstanding actors who captivated viewers' attention regardless of their screen time."

This year's MBC Drama Awards will be hosted by broadcasting personalities Kim Sung-joo and Han Hye-jin and held on December 30. Also drawing attention is a collaboration with Oriental painter Kim Hyun Jung, who is leading the popularization of Korean painting with her witty artistic world.
