[Herald Economy = Reporter Lee Won-yul] Actor Park Jin-hee, menswear fashion designer Song Jiho, Girl's Day member Yura, and visiting professor Jeong Geon-yeong of the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts....
This is the list of new ambassadors who will promote Seoul at home and abroad. The city announced that it will hold the '2018 Seoul Promotion Ambassador Appointment Ceremony' at Sewoon Hall, Sewoon Plaza, Jongno-gu, at noon on the 6th.
The newly appointed ambassadors are 11 experts (including one group) drawn from fields such as broadcasting, architecture, culture, and the arts, each having distinguished themselves and engaged in diverse activities in their respective fields. Starting that day, they will promote the city and publicize its administration for two years.
The 11 are: menswear fashion designer Song Jiho, who has promoted Korean fashion culture worldwide; architect Yoo Hyun-joon, who connects spaces with people based on the idea that "architecture is people"; makeup artist Jung Saem-mool, who discovers unique beauty; and Jeong Geon-yeong, a visiting professor at the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts in Austria and a multi-percussionist who freely handles diverse percussion instruments to communicate through music with those in society's blind spots.
Also joining as ambassadors are: magazine editor-in-chief Park Ji-ho, who draws public empathy through authentic writing and content; actor Park Jin-hee, active in various social welfare fields such as the environment and sharing; interior designer Yang Tae-oh, who leads efforts to promote Korean beauty to the world and preserve the value of tradition; Korean painter Kim Hyun Jung, who wittily unravels 21st-century genre scenes under the theme of the 'Naesoong Story'; Girl's Day's Yura, beloved for her vibrant charm across music, acting, and entertainment; illustrator Myung Min-ho, who captures warm everyday moments in his drawings; and the rookie idol group (G)I-DLE, who have won great love right out of the gate with skill that belies their newcomer status.
The city will also present plaques of appreciation that day to figures who were especially active as Seoul promotion ambassadors over the past year. They include broadcaster Park Soo-hong, model Jang Yoon-ju, and announcer Lee Un-kyung.
In addition, actor Choi Bul-am, the longest-serving Seoul promotion ambassador (appointed in 1998), who received a plaque of appreciation last year, will attend the ceremony to congratulate the newly appointed junior ambassadors and deliver a message of encouragement for their future activities.
Multi-percussionist Jeong Geon-yeong, newly named an ambassador this time, will also give a celebratory percussion performance.
Mayor Park Won-soon said, "Together with these wonderful people who will represent the dreams and hopes of our citizens, we will build a Seoul where citizens are happy."
