KSP News reported that Seoul's Seocho District will launch the online culture and arts service 'Seorip Culture Class' and the online performance 'Three-Minute Relay Classics with a Story, Love & Hope' via its official YouTube channel starting April 10, 2020, to support residents worn out by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic. [KSP News = Reporter Kim Chang-seok kspa@kspnews.com] Seoul's Seocho District will launch a next-level online culture and arts service, 'Seorip Culture Class,' along with the online performance 'Three-Minute Relay Classics with a Story: Love & Hope,' through its official YouTube channel starting on the 10th, to comfort residents worn out by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and to support artists whose stages have shrunk.
First, 'Seorip Culture Class' is organized around four themes — music, art, literature, and travel — and can be viewed as an online live broadcast on the district office's official YouTube channel, offering a time of healing through art for residents whose spirits have been worn down by the closure of cultural facilities due to COVID-19.
In particular, as Seocho residents rank first in communicative administration, comments will be exchanged between residents watching on YouTube and the artists.
Through this, the district expects residents to actively participate in culture and the arts and deepen their understanding of the works.
'Seorip Culture Class' opens on the 10th with the [Music] edition, its first broadcast hosted by well-known classical YouTuber "Jenny Yoon," followed on the 11th by a travel talk show hosted by popular podcaster Tak Jae-hyung.
Following that, renowned artists across different genres each day — including Korean painter Kim Hyun Jung, travel writer Shin Kyung-ah, saxophonist Brandon Choi, and violinist Kim Ji-yoon — are planning and preparing a variety of content.
Meanwhile, the Seocho Symphony Orchestra's 'Three-Minute Relay Classics with a Story: Love & Hope' is also being pursued.
From the 10th to the 20th, under the theme 'Love,' conveying feelings of love and gratitude to medical staff, volunteers, and others, the orchestra will unfold a special message of love to help overcome these difficult times through classical music, each piece carrying its own story, every day.
From the 21st to the 30th, under the theme 'Hope,' the orchestra will present video performances of classical music carrying messages of love and hope amid difficult circumstances.
The district will also continue to actively communicate with residents about culture and the arts through the YouTube comments section.
The Seocho Symphony Orchestra, a resident ensemble of the Seocho Culture Foundation, continues active performance activities including foundation-planned concerts and invited performances at the 'Seorip Festival.' The solo relay performances will feature many talented young artists of the Seocho Symphony Orchestra, offering world-class culture and arts performances.
District Mayor Cho Eun-hee said, "I hope the new online culture and arts services, 'Seorip Culture Class' and 'Three-Minute Relay Classics with a Story: Love & Hope,' will give strength to the tired hearts of residents and local artists who are going through a difficult time due to COVID-19," adding, "We will continue to work to ensure residents can comfortably enjoy high-quality culture and arts performances from their own living rooms."
