[Fashion Journal & Textile Life: reporter Lee Se-rim] The Korea Federation of Textile Industries (Chairman Choi Byung-oh; hereafter KOFOTI) held the '1st Textile & Fashion (Tex+Fa) CEO Breakfast Forum' on Tuesday, March 10, at the Sky Ballroom of the Textile Fashion Club on the 17th floor of the Textile Center.
This year's first breakfast forum invited Korean painter Kim Hyun Jung to speak on the theme 'Branding Strategies for Korean Content,' organized to explore branding strategies leveraging Korean cultural content and the potential of the textile and fashion industry amid the globally expanding K-culture trend.
The event drew around 100 CEOs and executives from the textile and fashion industry, including KOFOTI Chairman Choi Byung-oh, Textile Export-Import Association Chairman Bang Ju-deuk, Spinners & Weavers Association Chairman Seo Tae-won, and Toray Advanced Materials Korea CEO Kim Young-sup.
Known for reinterpreting traditional Korean painting with a contemporary sensibility and drawing attention both domestically and internationally through media and social media, painter Kim Hyun Jung shared her experience expanding traditional subject matter and Korean identity into brand value.
In particular, Kim emphasized that content combining traditional culture with storytelling can develop into a globally competitive brand, stating, "The textile and fashion industry, too, can create new growth potential by actively leveraging Korean heritage and cultural assets."
She also introduced representative cases of K-street fashion brands recently gaining attention in the global market based on their unique brand stories and worldviews, underscoring the importance of brand storytelling in the fashion industry.
Through this, she explained that fashion is expanding beyond mere products into an industry that shapes consumers' lifestyles and cultural experiences.
KOFOTI Chairman Choi Byung-oh said, "As global interest in K-content and K-culture grows, it is time for the textile and fashion industry, too, to seek new competitiveness by combining cultural stories with brand value," adding, "We hope this will be a meaningful time to think together about brand strategies leveraging Korean content and the direction for developing the textile and fashion industry."
KOFOTI plans to develop the CEO Breakfast Forum into a venue for sharing insight and communication across the industry, so that the textile and fashion industry can more deeply explore differentiated branding strategies and create new growth opportunities in the global market.
