[Today Newspaper Reporter Kim Ji-hyun] A group exhibition of Korean artists is being held at Galerie 89 in Paris, the city of art, from the 5th through the 12th of this month.
This exhibition, 'École Seoul & Paris,' is co-organized by Galerie 89 of Paris and art critic Professor Kim Jong-geun.
The École group began centered on artists from Hongik University's graduate school of fine arts, but this exhibition also draws attention for bringing together artists from Seoul National University, Ewha Womans University, and Sookmyung Women's University, as well as French artists — 36 in all.
'École Seoul & Paris,' held in Paris in the new year of 2019, is the École group's third international exhibition abroad, following exhibitions in Shanghai and Hong Kong, China.
It is also the first international exhibition of 2019, following the group exhibition at the Seoul Art Show held at COEX last month.
The École group has shown a passionate commitment to their work and creative practice for more than a decade, continuing vigorous activities such as seminars and joint group exhibitions.
In particular, the École group aims to pursue work and creation in a truly meaningful sense, free from the ties of school and regional networks.
Professor Kim Jong-geun, who organized the exhibition, said, "Although this is a gathering of artists with different styles and tendencies, which is never easy, École can walk the path they want because they all share an ideal and goal of pursuing an endless artistic journey together." He added, "I hope that through this pure gathering for art, École can serve as a catalyst for everyone to grow and develop further in artistic creation," and stressed, "I hope this meaningful international exhibition becomes an important turning point for the École group to grow even stronger and become artists who draw more attention going forward."
The participating artists are Jeong Se-hoon, Lee Han-hee, Yoon Sun-hee, Heo Young-ran, Lee Young-gyun, Lee Jeong-ok, Jeong Jae-eun, Jo Kang-nam, Lee Mi, Yoo Mi-soo, Kim Min-kyung, Park Hee-sook, Joo Hye-kyung, Yoo Ha-ra, Kim Hyun-sook, Seo Seung-yeon, Moon Song-ran, Shin Hee-sun, Jo Won-young, Yoo Hae-kang, Choi Ji-in, Lee Oh-sung, Jeon Soo-kyung, Song Miri-nae, Kim Hyun Jung, Han Kyung-won, Kwon Min-jung, Kim Jong-sang, Geum Bo-sung, Bae Ok-soo, Jang Hyun-hee, and Lee Hwa-jin, along with French artists Hero, Marielle Lévêque, Baptiste, and Junino.
