[Korea Instructor News Reporter Lee Mi-suk] The National Daegu Museum (Director Hong Jin-geun) announced that it is running 'Candid Conversation,' a curator-talk program linked to the special exhibition 'Women's Hanbok, Encountering the Modern Era.'
This year's curator talks take the form of three MUTALK sessions built around different themes.
The first of these, 'Candid Conversation,' runs every Wednesday and Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in the special exhibition hall from January 9 (Wed) to March 9 (Sat) during the exhibition period. Visitors can hear the stories of women's hanbok and the women behind it from the 1900s through the 1970s. The museum curator's engaging and witty explanations of the exhibits will guide listeners on a journey back in time.
'Candid Conversation' will run various events during the program. First, every Wednesday, participants only can join a 'storage vault viewing.' Known as the museum's treasure trove, the storage vault is normally off-limits to the public, making it an intriguing hidden space that piques curiosity. Second, anyone who joins the program and posts a verification photo on social media receives a clear file and sticker related to the exhibition. Third, at each session, one participant is drawn on the spot to receive a desk calendar by Korean painter Kim Hyun Jung.
'Candid Conversation,' a space for communication between visitors and the museum, requires no advance reservation and is open to everyone on a first-come, first-served basis, with around 20 spots per session. The 'Candid Conversation' program hopes to offer visitors a chance to look back on the faint memories of women from the past, and warmly invites interest and participation in this exhibition tour that introduces the stories held in the hanbok of women from bygone days.
