Wanju County (County Governor Yoo Hee-tae), where tradition and modernity breathe together, is holding a special exhibition by Kim Hyun Jung, a rising star painter recognized as a 21st-century genre painter, to mark the 10th anniversary of Samnye Art Village.

Kim Hyun Jung is widely known for works that depict women going about their daily lives in hanbok, expressing the concerns of contemporary people in a trendy and distinctive way, earning great popularity both domestically and abroad.

She graduated from the Department of Oriental Painting at Seoul National University's College of Fine Arts and completed her doctoral coursework there. She has held exhibitions on world stages such as the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Korea (as its youngest exhibiting artist), the Metropolitan Museum in New York, the Korean Cultural Center in Berlin, the Beijing Biennale, École Séoul-Paris Gallery in France, and the Seoul Arts Center.

Kim's work aligns well with the image of Samnye Art Village, where tradition and modernity coexist, adding special meaning to the 10th anniversary.

Running from the 10th through April 8 at the village's Exhibition Hall 1, the special exhibition is titled 'A Tray of Eggs, the Age to Marry.'

Being held for the first time in the Honam region, the exhibition features around 40 works, including representative pieces from the Marriage series such as 'Marriage: World Apart,' 'Marriage: Wedding Reception,' and 'Marriage: The Thinking Bride-to-Be,' as well as from the Naesoong series such as 'Naesoong: Oops,' 'Naesoong: Narcissus,' and 'Naesoong: The One Who Moves Me.'

Alongside the exhibition, tying in with the hanbok theme of the show, the art village will also offer various hands-on programs such as sketching, trying on hanbok, and making traditional hair ornaments and bamboo hats.

During the exhibition period, meet-and-greet sessions and lectures with Kim Hyun Jung will also be held.

Admission to the 10th anniversary special exhibition 'A Tray of Eggs, the Age to Marry' at Samnye Art Village is free; for guided tours and paid experience reservations, contact Samnye Art Village (063-290-3862~3).

To mark its 10th anniversary this year, Samnye Art Village is also planning a range of other programs, including a public special exhibition series, the 2nd Regional Artists Open Call, a Wanju residents' craft exhibition, special pop-up exhibitions, weekend performances, a car-free street flea market, a 10th anniversary special concert, and craft and lifestyle culture experience programs.

Wanju County Governor Yoo Hee-tae said, "We are grateful for all the love and support that has brought Samnye Art Village to its 10th anniversary," adding, "We will continue to create cultural content rooted in empathy and communication, so that the village can grow further as a leading cultural tourism destination representing Korea, and serve as a catalyst for revitalizing Wanju County's cultural tourism."
