[Hyundai Economic Newspaper, Reporter An So-yun] Woori Card announced on the 30th that it will launch its new product 'Card Jeongseok POINT,' which pairs strong point-accumulation benefits with artistic design, on the 2nd of next month.

This product is the first result of the 'Card Jeongseok (The Essentials of Cards)' series, embodying the resolve CEO Jeong Won-jae expressed in his January inaugural address to 'stay true to the fundamentals.'

The new lineup consists of two credit cards — 'Card Jeongseok POINT' and 'Card Jeongseok POINT Primary' — and one debit card, 'Card Jeongseok POINT Check.'

From the product-planning stage, Woori Card comprehensively incorporated big-data analysis along with customer preferences and demands gathered across sales channels, designing the cards so that customers can easily and conveniently enjoy point-accumulation benefits.

'Card Jeongseok POINT' offers a base accumulation rate of 0.8% across all categories, the highest in the industry, with no cap on points once monthly spending of 300,000 won is reached.

On top of that, customers earn up to 5% back in ten special categories they frequently use: 5% for mobile carriers, public transit, and EV charging; 3% for coffee and movies; and 1% for department stores, large discount stores, online shopping, gas stations, and overseas purchases.

Registering the card with major simple-payment services such as Naver Pay, Kakao Pay, Payco, and SSG Pay adds another 3% back on payments made through them, bringing total accumulation up to as much as 6%.

'Card Jeongseok POINT Primary' has a base accumulation rate of 0.8%, earning points across all categories once monthly spending reaches 300,000 won.

For mobile carriers, public transit, EV charging, coffee, and movies, customers earn up to 3% back; for department stores, large discount stores, online shopping, gas stations, and overseas purchases, up to 1%, across the same ten special categories.

As with 'Card Jeongseok POINT,' paying through the four simple-payment services adds another 3%, for a maximum of 6% total, and cardholders also receive a 50% on-site discount on Lotte World Aquarium admission and free-pass tickets at major amusement parks.

The 'Card Jeongseok POINT Check' debit card earns up to 1.5% back in the same categories as the credit cards, and 0.3% in all other categories, with an additional 1.5% back on simple-payment purchases.

Woori Card also infused a sense of 'Korean beauty' into the card's plate design.

A Woori Card official said, "By applying Korean painter Kim Hyun Jung's work 'Gwayubulgeup' to this product's design, we wanted to convey Woori Card's commitment to establishing itself as the essential choice for wise consumption, rather than another card that promises a lot but delivers little," adding, "We expect this to heighten emotional satisfaction through art and enhance the overall brand experience."

Woori Card has also prepared a variety of events to mark the product launch.

Customers who spend 300,000 won or more with the card and apply by the end of June will be entered into a drawing for prizes including 2 million MOA Points, a Galaxy S9 or S9+, an LG PuriCare air purifier, and a Dyson V8 cordless vacuum cleaner.

Additional events include double MOA Points for customers using the four major simple-payment services (Naver Pay, Kakao Pay, Payco, SSG Pay), 2-3 months of interest-free installments at all affiliated merchants, and special airfare promotions.

New cardholders can also take part in a special-screening invitation event for the film 'Avengers: Infinity War,' held simultaneously on the 25th in five major cities nationwide — Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Daejeon, and Gwangju. A total of 650 winners chosen by drawing will receive two invitation tickets and a popcorn combo voucher.

A commemorative exhibition celebrating the design collaboration between Woori Card and artist Kim Hyun Jung will also be held. The special exhibition 'Card Jeongseok, Capturing the Beauty of Korea' will run from the 5th to the 9th of next month at the Insa Art Center in Insadong.

The space will showcase the countless hours of deliberation and effort Woori Card employees put into communicating with customers during the new product's development process, alongside major works by artist Kim Hyun Jung and imaginative advertising materials.

A Woori Card official said, "By incorporating artistic design, we have transformed a conventional financial product into something more emotionally resonant, and we are preparing 'artvertising' using the artist's other witty works to create an enjoyable way of connecting with our customers."

Meanwhile, the annual fee for the two 'Card Jeongseok POINT' credit cards is 10,000 won for domestic-only use and 12,000 won for combined domestic and overseas use; the debit card has no annual fee. More details on the products can be found on the Woori Card website or mobile app.
