[E-News Today, Reporter Kim Min-seok] Woori Card announced on the 30th that its 'Card Principle' series has topped 1 million cards issued five months after launch.
Woori Card launched 'Card Principle POINT' in April, followed by DISCOUNT, SHOPPING and L.POINT, four products in all. It topped 100,000 cards within three weeks and surpassed 1 million within five months.
Woori Card analyzed the success factors of the 'Card Principle' series as: △ accrual and discounts, △ extra benefits in categories with high customer usage, and △ card design drawing on Korean beauty. Woori Card drew on Korean painter Kim Hyun Jung's work to capture Korean beauty in the design.
The card plate surface was also given a special finish for a visual effect in which the artwork appears set in a frame, with a 'ㄱ'-shaped notch placed at the top right to make it easier to pull out of a wallet.
Woori Card plans to launch products such as an office-worker-specific card and a mileage-type card in the second half of the year, and expects to reach 2 million cards by year-end. It also expects a positive effect on sales, since credit cards make up a larger share of issuance than check cards.
A Woori Card official said, "By cutting unnecessary add-on services and channeling the savings into strengthening core benefits, we preemptively addressed concerns about profitability," adding, "customer satisfaction has risen, creating a win-win for both the company and our customers."
The official continued, "Despite the challenging environment in the industry recently, we are grateful for the customer affection shown toward 'Card Principle,' which has allowed us to achieve such good results," adding, "We will continue to repay our customers with good products that reflect their needs and market trends."
