[Hyundai Economic Daily, Reporter Ahn So-yoon] Woori Card announced on the 30th that its flagship 'Card Principle' series has topped 1 million cards issued five months after launch.

Woori Card introduced four products under the series starting with 'Card Principle POINT' last April, followed by DISCOUNT, SHOPPING and L.POINT.

After topping 100,000 cards within three weeks of launch, issuance kept accelerating, setting a record of 1 million in five months.

Woori Card cited industry-leading accrual and discount rates, bold extra benefits in categories customers use most often, and a refined card design that draws on Korean beauty as the key reasons behind the series' success.

A Woori Card official said, "Sales of the 'Card Principle' series continue to gain momentum," adding, "With various new products such as a card tailored for office workers and a mileage-type card also in the pipeline, hitting 2 million by year-end looks feasible, and since credit cards make up a larger share of issuance than check cards, we also expect a positive effect on revenue."

The official added, "By cutting unnecessary add-on services and channeling the savings into strengthening core benefits, we preemptively addressed concerns about profitability, and as a result customer satisfaction has risen, creating a win-win for both the company and our customers."
