Woori Card (reporter Lee You-min) has launched its new product 'Card-ui-jeongseok POINT,' which adds artistic design to powerful point-accrual benefits.
This product is the first result of the 'Card-ui-jeongseok' series, reflecting the mindset President Jeong Won-jae emphasized in his January inauguration speech — 'communication,' staying true to the basics for customers, and 'flexibility,' pursuing new things without fearing change. From the product-planning stage, Woori Card comprehensively factored in big-data analysis as well as customer preference areas and needs gathered across sales channels, designing the card so customers could easily and conveniently enjoy point-accrual benefits.
The card plate design also embodies Korean beauty for the first time in the industry. It applies Korean painter Kim Hyun Jung's work 'Gwayubulgeup,' reflecting Woori Card's intent to position the card as the 'standard' of wise spending rather than another flashy but substance-less product, and to enhance the brand experience by raising emotional satisfaction through the artwork.
It consists of two credit cards — 'Card-ui-jeongseok POINT' and 'Card-ui-jeongseok POINT Main Transaction' — and one check card, 'Card-ui-jeongseok POINT Check,' offering benefits specialized in point accrual.
'Card-ui-jeongseok POINT' earns a base rate of 0.8%, the industry's highest across all merchant categories, with unlimited accrual once the previous month's spending reaches 300,000 won.
In addition, in 10 special categories frequently used by customers — mobile telecom, public transit, and EV charging at 5%; coffee and movies at 3%; department stores, large discount stores, online shopping, gas stations, and overseas spending at 1% — up to 5% of the amount spent is accrued.
Registering and paying with this card on major simple-payment services such as Naver Pay, Kakao Pay, Payco, and SSG Pay earns an additional 3%, bringing the maximum accrual to 6%. Each payment service's own points can also be earned, which is especially useful for customers who prefer simple payment.
'Card-ui-jeongseok POINT Main Transaction' has a base accrual rate of 0.8%, earning points across all categories once the previous month's spending reaches 300,000 won, with mobile telecom, public transit, EV charging, coffee, and movies at 3%, and department stores, large discount stores, online shopping, gas stations, and overseas spending at 1% across 10 special categories, up to a maximum of 3% of the amount spent.
Paying through the major simple-payment services adds an extra 3%, for a maximum of 6% point accrual, and also brings 50% on-site discounts on Lotte World Aquarium admission and free-pass tickets at major amusement parks.
'Card-ui-jeongseok POINT Check' earns up to 1.5% in the same categories as the credit cards, and 0.3% in other categories. An additional 1.5% accrual benefit also applies when using simple-payment services.
Various events are prepared for Woori Card customers to mark the product launch.
Customers who spend 300,000 won or more with the card by the end of June and apply will be entered into a drawing for 2 million Moa Points, a Galaxy S9 or S9+, an LG PuriCare air purifier, a Dyson V8 cordless vacuum, and more. Other events include double Moa Point accrual for users of the four simple-payment services (Naver Pay, Kakao Pay, Payco, SSG Pay), 2-3 month interest-free installments at all affiliated merchants, and discounted airfare promotions.
A commemorative exhibition of the design collaboration between Woori Card and artist Kim Hyun Jung will also be held. The special exhibition 'Card-ui-jeongseok, Capturing the Beauty of Korea' will run from the 5th to the 9th at the Insa Art Center in Insa-dong.
A Woori Card official said, "By incorporating artistic design, we've given this rigid financial product an emotional makeover, and we're preparing to create advertisements using the artist's other witty works through the 'Artvertising' technique to communicate joyfully with our customers."
