Ewha Seoul Hospital's Art Cube is holding Korean painter Kim Hyun Jung's invitational solo exhibition 'Naesoong Stories' through November 17. The exhibition depicts women in hanbok going about daily life, and the artist said she overcame her own depression and found a healing process through this work.

Ewha Seoul Hospital (Hospital Director Joo Woong)'s Art Cube is holding Korean painter Kim Hyun Jung's invitational solo exhibition 'Naesoong Stories' through November 17. Opened on the 15th, the exhibition presents works that depict Korea's social landscape through Oriental painting techniques, using hanbok as a symbolic medium.
According to Ewha Womans University Medical Center, Kim Hyun Jung's 'Naesoong Stories' works depict the everyday moments of a woman in elegant hanbok — sitting in front of the refrigerator eating pizza, drinking coffee, exercising — capturing the Korean sentiment of trying to strike a balance between saving face and being honest.

Painter Kim Hyun Jung said, "While painting the Naesoong Stories, I overcame my own depression and had a time of healing," adding, "Since this exhibition is being held at a hospital, I hope patients, caregivers, and staff who view the works can set down their burdens for a moment and encounter the humor of everyday life."
Painter Kim Hyun Jung has been actively exhibiting at institutions at home and abroad, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea, and was selected in 2017 for Forbes' 'Asia's 30 Under 30 with Influence.'
