Woori Card announced on the 30th that the 'Jung Won-jae Card' has been issued more than 1 million times just five months after launch. This is the fastest a single product has passed 1 million cards issued since Woori Card was founded in 2013.
'Jung Won-jae Card' is the nickname for 'Card Principle,' which Woori Card introduced last April. It picked up the nickname because CEO Jung Won-jae personally directed everything from product planning to design and marketing strategy. The card consists of four products in all, including 'Card Principle Point,' which earns 0.8% points across all merchant categories.
This is the third time one of Woori Card's individual products (series) has surpassed 1 million cards issued, following Damoa in 2013 and Ganada in 2014. It took Damoa 11 months and Ganada 9 months to reach 1 million cards; 'Card Principle' is the fastest yet. A Woori Card official said, "Even with the industry facing a tough environment, the pace of issuance has been fast, which is an encouraging sign internally."
Woori Card analyzed that closely researching the benefits customers actually want and building them into the card paid off. Adding a notch at the top right of the card for an easier grip, and incorporating painter Kim Hyun Jung's artwork into the design, were also cited as differentiating points.
Woori Card plans to release two more products in the 'Card Principle' series within the year, with a goal of issuing 2 million cards by year-end.
