Pandakorea.com, Korea's largest cross-border shopping mall for the Chinese-speaking market, launched a beta service for content promotion on 'Panda King Weibo' (http://weibo.com/pandakorea) starting on the 18th. After running the beta service through the 9th, the company plans to launch full service on a new dedicated C-commerce platform in October.
C-commerce refers to a new distribution platform combining SNS-based 'Community' with mobile e-commerce-based 'Commerce.'
A Pandakorea.com official said, "Recently, the e-commerce industry trend shows advertising-dependent purchases declining while natural purchase connections driven by lifestyle and content are increasing," adding, "We are preparing C-commerce anew to keep pace with these changing customer needs."
To this end, Pandakorea.com is building relationships with creators and content companies to open a content-centered C-commerce platform.
Following an MOU signed in February with Referi, which has 3.66 million female subscribers and about 70 beauty creators, the company also completed agreements with lead creator Seo Su-jin, a makeup artist, and Park Hyun-sun, CEO of Pink Secret.
So far, the company has completed agreements with over 200 creators for content partnerships toward C-commerce.
On the 13th, it also signed an agreement with artist Kim Hyun Jung, well known for her Korean painting <Naesoong Story>. Kim Hyun Jung plans to plan and produce original Korean content that Chinese consumers favor.
Lee Jong-sik, CEO of Pandakorea.com, said, "We hope C-commerce will become a platform that promotes a variety of K-lifestyle-related content across fashion, beauty, health, and more, and effectively sources and sells outstanding Korean products," adding, "We will continue working to promote appealing content to Panda King's 3 million members and 300,000 Weibo followers, help solo creators go global, and create an enjoyable shopping environment for Chinese consumers."
