Korean painter Kim Hyun Jung, who is drawing worldwide attention, received the Individual Category (The Prize of Entrepreneurship) award at the 2018 6th Korea Brand Awards ceremony hosted by the Korea Marketing Association, held on the 18th at the auditorium of the National Museum of Korea.
Painter Kim Hyun Jung has drawn attention for her 'Naesoong series,' works that wittily express fresh ideas and themes based on the theory and technique of traditional Oriental painting. She actively communicates with the public through her lively social media presence, and engages broadly with audiences through collaborations with domestic and international companies and general-education lectures for non-specialists.
Recently, through a collaboration with Woori Card, she designed the card plates for the 'Card-ui-Jeongseok' series featuring her artwork imagery, and the cards have gained great popularity. The Korea Marketing Association highly valued the way Kim Hyun Jung has lowered the threshold of art to bring it closer to the public, pioneered new ground for working as a painter, and built a brand around herself and her work, and selected her as the winner in the Individual Category.
In her acceptance remarks, Kim Hyun Jung said, "Since I was young, I have seriously pondered the question of 'why must an artist go hungry.' I wanted to experiment not only through my own work but through my activities with how an artist could engage in diverse social activities. I am grateful to the Marketing Association for recognizing the value of my work so far, and I will continue to work hard."
Kim Hyun Jung was also selected for Forbes' '30 Under 30 Asia' in 2017, 'Woman of the Year in Culture' at the 2015 Cheonggang Culture Awards, and Dong-A Ilbo's '100 People Who Will Shine Korea in 10 Years' in 2014.
We look forward to her continued new endeavors in the art world.
