Korean Painter Kim Hyun Jung Named to '2017 Asia's Most Influential Under-30s'
Kim Hyun Jung has become the first Korean fine-art painter selected for the American magazine Forbes' '30 Under 30 Asia 2017' list. Forbes selects 30 outstanding young Asians each year across ten fields, including science, industry, and the arts. Last year, Korean honorees in the entertainment and sports category included Big Bang's G-Dragon, former national figure skater Kim Yuna, and actor Kim Soo-hyun.
This year, singers Jay Park and Jessica were among those named in entertainment and sports, while Kim Hyun Jung was the sole Korean fine-art painter named in the arts category. Forbes introduced her by writing, "Kim Hyun Jung has challenged existing conventions through her work. She held a solo exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and was one of the youngest artists to take part in an exhibition at Korea's National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art."
