MBN's "Grasshopper Playing with Ants," airing on the 9th, featured the appearance of Kim Hyun Jung, well known for her hanbok paintings.
On the broadcast, Park Gun looked at Kim Hyun Jung and said, "She looks like an idol," adding, "She resembles Jang Yun-jeong." Kim Hyun Jung said, "I actually do go around wearing hanbok in real life," showing her affection for hanbok. Asked how the art world reacted to her bold Oriental paintings, Kim Hyun Jung said, "I got hit with some harsh words I wasn't prepared for, so it stung." On the other hand, she said she was also told, "The art world needs people like you too." Kim Hyun Jung then brought several pieces from her signature "Naesoong Story" series to explain them to the cast.
Kim Hyun Jung said, "I used to be plagued by anxiety about the future, but now I've grown confident in my path, so I'm thinking I should work even harder."
The daily life of Kim Hyun Jung, the "idol of Korean painting" known for paintings that add hanbok to contemporary life, was then shown. Kim Hyun Jung was set to collaborate with a company and held a meeting. It was a meeting to launch a Korean-painting-themed yanggaeng (sweet bean jelly). As the meeting proceeded, Kim Hyun Jung showed off a CEO-like presence and charisma. After the meeting ended, Kim Hyun Jung worked late into the night, absorbed in painting. Since hanbok worn in contemporary life is a defining feature of Kim Hyun Jung's paintings, she redrew her work several times, striving to render dynamic movement and the folds of hanbok in fine detail.
MBN's "Grasshopper Playing with Ants" airs every Monday at 11 p.m.
