On the 15th at 7 p.m., the humanities program "History Stories Seen Through a Painter's Eyes" will be held with Korean painter Kim Hyun Jung in the 8th-floor auditorium of the Gwanak-gu Office.
This humanities lecture invites Kim Hyun Jung, currently the most closely watched rising star in the Korean painting world, known for the "boldness" of her ideas, themes, and expressive techniques in reinterpreting 21st-century genre painting as pop art. Korean painter Kim Hyun Jung is a star of the art world who made her name with the artwork <Naesoong Story>.
The "Naesoong Story series," a distinctive blend of women in hanbok and modern culture, will tell a story of freedom for hanbok and women once confined by the weight of tradition.
The lecture will also offer time to reinterpret the architectural and historical value of the royal tombs of the Joseon Dynasty—along with palaces and royal shrines, a representative cultural heritage of the Joseon royal family—and to reflect, through a creative lens, on values handed down from the past amid today's rapidly changing society.
In particular, this humanities lecture will feature cultural and artistic performances, including a musical performance by the indie band Redlow and a performance by the Korean art song ensemble "Arang," hosted by announcer Yoon Hye-min.
This lecture is free and open to all residents, with 500 spots being filled on a first-come, first-served basis through the Gwanak-gu website [Participation/Reservation > Course/Event Reservation].
