Kim Hyun Jung, famous for her 'Naesoong Story' series depicting the everyday lives of hanbok-clad women with wit, will hold a talk concert themed 'Kim Hyun Jung's Joseon Royal Tombs Walk' on the subject of the Joseon royal tombs. The event is hosted by Nowon-gu, Seongbuk-gu, Guri and Namyangju -- the municipalities where the royal tombs are located -- and co-organized by Guri City and Chosun News Press. It will be held December 5 at Nowon Lifelong Learning Center and December 9 at Guri Art Hall.
The talk concert will feature Kim's lecture and an introduction to her work, alongside a gayageum performance by Jo Young-jae and a performance by the gugak girl group 'Gukbap.' Moon Hyun-woo, head of the Arirang Wandering Troupe and active as a cultural envoy for Korean painting, will emcee.
Kim is beloved by the public for her playful style, which combines Western collage with East Asian ink-and-wash coloring techniques. Her 2014 solo exhibition 'Naesoong Olympics' set the record for the most visitors since the opening of Gana Art Center. She has also held a solo exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
The talk concert is free to attend. Reservations can be made on the Joseon Royal Tombs Cultural Belt website (linkroyaltombs.or.kr) or each municipality's website.
