The November 'Youth Party,' a talk concert held on the second Friday of every month with a young artist at the Bojeong Station Community Culture Center (Bojeong-dong, Giheung-gu, Yongin), a cultural gathering space for young people, will take place on the 9th.
The Youth Party, running from 8 p.m. that day, will feature Korean painter Kim Hyun Jung (photo) -- known by various epithets such as the idol of Korean painting, a 21st-century genre painter, and a pop Korean-painting artist -- speaking on the theme 'How to Draw Out Diverse Ideas Through Creative Thinking, as Taught by a Painter.'
Kim is well known for her contemporary genre-painting series 'Naesoong series,' inspired by everyday moments, and was selected for Forbes' '2017 30 Under 30 Asia.' She is also much loved as an artist who communicates through accomplished works combining complex collage techniques using diverse materials on a traditional Korean painting foundation with sincerity and wit.
The 'Youth Party' is open to any citizen aged 16 or older who wants to feel young at heart, and on the day of the event, pre-registered participants will be offered an event to experience youth lifestyle culture as well as an opportunity to make their own items related to folk painting.
Advance registration can be made through the Cultural Foundation's website.
