The retail industry has turned to distinctive designs to catch consumers' eyes, rolling out products that either collaborate with artists or feature familiar characters.

According to industry sources on the 26th, coffee-mix brand Nescafe and shampoo brand Ryo respectively released the 'Nescafe Supremo X Kim Hyun Jung Art Tumbler Special Pack,' created with Oriental painter Kim Hyun Jung, and the 'Saekdong-Flower Art Collaboration Edition,' created with artist Hong Ji-yoon. The companies explained that they wanted to capture Korean beauty in their products.

There are also collaboration products with tattoo artist Novo, whose work is well-suited to expressing strong individuality.

Coca-Cola's Seagram released the 'Seagram X Novo Collaboration Package' in collaboration with tattoo artist Novo last summer.

The company said it created a package unique to Seagram, tapping into the strong self-expression desires among its core young-adult consumer base on social media.

Cosmetics brand Kiehl's also released the 'Calendula Petals Trio Limited Edition' with Novo, notable for capturing both city and nature together.

Products using animal characters are also on the rise.

As the Olympic mascots are the Asiatic black bear Bandabi and the white tiger Soohorang, the retail industry has likewise been dominated by animal characters.

Coca-Cola's Glaceau Vitamin Water released a bear-character product in collaboration with emerging pop artist Lim Ji-bin.

This edition is notable for being designed with characters and phrasing matched to the traits of Glaceau Vitamin Water's four varieties.

Cosmetics brand SNP released a sheet mask featuring an adorable bear design on the cheek area of the sheet.

E-Land World's SPA brand Spao introduced a We Bare Bears collaboration line, featuring embroidered accents based on characters from the popular animated series 'We Bare Bears.'

A retail-industry source explained, "While these characters aren't tied to the PyeongChang Winter Olympics, they help create a sense of familiarity for consumers."

The source added, "Collaborations with artists' work can also offer consumers a fresh feeling and sense of fun."
