Health News reported that Ewha Seoul Hospital is holding Korean painter Kim Hyun Jung's invitational solo exhibition 'Naesoong Stories' at the Art Cube from September 15 to November 17. At the opening reception held on the 22nd, the artist said it was a healing process through which she overcame her own depression while painting.

Ewha Seoul Hospital (Hospital Director Joo Woong)'s Art Cube is holding Korean painter Kim Hyun Jung's invitational solo exhibition 'Naesoong Stories' from September 15 to November 17, presenting Korea's social landscape through Oriental painting techniques using hanbok as a symbolic medium.
Kim Hyun Jung's 'Naesoong Stories' depicts the everyday moments of a woman in elegant hanbok — sitting in front of the refrigerator eating pizza, drinking coffee, exercising — capturing the Korean sentiment of trying to strike a balance between saving face and being honest.
At the solo exhibition's opening reception held on the 22nd at the Art Cube on the 2nd floor of Ewha Seoul Hospital, medical center officials attended, including Ewha Womans University Medical Center Director Yoo Kyung-ha, Ewha Mokdong Hospital Director Kim Han-soo, and Ewha Seoul Hospital Director Joo Woong.
Attendees said they were able to experience small comfort and laughter by encountering the honest moments shown by the figures in the works at the 2nd-floor Art Cube.
Painter Kim Hyun Jung said, "While painting the Naesoong Stories, I overcame my own depression and had a time of healing," adding, "Since this exhibition is being held at a hospital, I hope patients, caregivers, and staff who view the works can set down their burdens for a moment and encounter the humor of everyday life."
Meanwhile, painter Kim Hyun Jung has been actively exhibiting at major institutions at home and abroad, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea, and was selected in 2017 for Forbes' 'Asia's 30 Under 30 with Influence.'
