[Money Today, reporter Joo Myung-ho] ['Card-ui-jeongseok' launches April 3... higher accrual rate than Shinhan's Deep Dream]
Woori Card is releasing a point-accrual specialized product that accrues up to 8% of the amount spent.
Woori Card announced on the 29th that it will launch its new product 'Card-ui-jeongseok POINT' next month on the 2nd. It is the first product in the 'Card-ui-jeongseok' series that President Jeong Won-jae has been driving since taking office, focused on powerful point-accrual benefits.
'Card-ui-jeongseok POINT' has a base accrual rate of 0.8%, earning points with no limit across all merchant categories regardless of the previous month's spending. In addition, in 10 categories customers frequently use — mobile telecom, public transit, EV charging, department stores, large discount stores, online shopping, gas stations, overseas spending, movies, and coffee — up to 5% of the amount spent is accrued. Paying through major simple-payment services such as Naver Pay, Kakao Pay, Payco, and SSG Pay adds an additional 3%, for up to 8% accumulated as points.
The check card 'Card-ui-jeongseok POINT Check' earns up to 1.5% in the 10 categories, and an additional 1.5% when using simple-payment services, for up to 3%. A Woori Card official said, "Since each simple-payment service also offers its own points, customers who prefer simple payment will see an even higher accrual rate."
The benefits of 'Card-ui-jeongseok POINT' are powerful even compared to Shinhan Card's 'Deep Dream,' an existing point-benefit leader. Deep Dream's base accrual rate is 0.7%, with 2.1% applied to discount stores, convenience stores, coffee and movies, overseas merchants, and mobile telecom auto-payment, and 3.5% applied to whichever of these five categories is used most.
'Card-ui-jeongseok POINT' is a direct reflection of President Jeong's management philosophy that a card must be true to the 'basics.' His conviction is that focusing purely on point accrual raises the convenience of card life and maximizes usage value by strengthening point benefits as much as possible. The product name 'Jeongseok' (the standard/gold standard) itself was chosen personally by President Jeong to capture this meaning of staying true to a card's fundamentals.
Another distinguishing feature, unlike existing cards, is that it incorporates Korean color into the card's exterior. A Woori Card official said, "We applied Korean painter Kim Hyun Jung's work 'Gwayubulgeup' to the design, also raising emotional satisfaction." The annual fee for 'Card-ui-jeongseok POINT' is 12,000 won for overseas use and 10,000 won for domestic use. The check card has no annual fee.
