Naesoong: A Longing Heart (戀心)

The heart does not move as one wishes, unlike a remote control. The more one loves, the longer the wish to stop lingers instead. Naesoong: A Longing Heart began with a feeling of love that could not be controlled. Even sitting blankly before the television, flipping through channels, the heart was always elsewhere — and the artist wanted to capture, in paint, that hazy stretch of time before simply falling asleep like that. Like a remote control with its batteries removed, a longing heart has no button to turn off or change the channel. When, in time, she learned that the other had been enduring a similar feeling all along, she came to think that a longing heart might be one that quietly crosses, together, even the stretches of time that never quite touch.
