Korean People Who Read
Korean Painter Kim Hyun Jung
Painting Youth
The bold young woman Kim Hyun Jung paints
wears hanbok and high heels.
Youth lives at that point where era and generation cross.
The language of that crossing point is
confidence and freedom, and also anxiety, sometimes despair.
Youth is generous.
Embracing all of those emotions,
it laughs, it cries,
living the present honestly and boldly.
The reason one cannot help but fall for her paintings
is that the ground she stands on is that very crossing point.
Because all of us are young.
