In the moments of resting and eating together, even a stranger draws a little closer. Connection begins not with grand words, but with shared time.

Naesoong: Some-ma Time began when the artist visited the stables in person and spent time with the horses for this collaboration with the Korea Racing Authority. Watching them receive careful attention and happily eat watermelon, she found herself relating to them less as racehorses built to run, and more as living beings who, like us, rest and take pleasure in life.

So she titled the work Some-ma Time, a play on words combining ‘Summer’ and ‘ma,’ the Korean word for horse. Come to think of it, growing close to a different kind of being often depends less on some special occasion than on simply sharing the ordinary time of eating and resting together.
